Biography

Janie Owens, DNP, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in nephrology. She earned both her graduate and post-graduate degrees from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia; she is also a certified hospice and palliative care nurse (CHPN).

At Kidney Specialists PLLC, Janie supports the care of patients with kidney disease, with a focus on improving the quality of life for those managing chronic conditions. She works collaboratively with the clinical team to provide comprehensive support for patients with kidney-related conditions, ensuring they receive attentive care throughout all stages of their health journey.

Janie is dedicated to clinical improvement and has conducted a nurse-driven project focused on enhancing caregiver satisfaction within home-based hospice services. She is an active member of the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and she was honored with the Daisy Award for Excellence in Nursing in 2011.

Janie’s care philosophy is grounded in empathy: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Originally from Virginia, she considers the state her lifelong home and enjoys serving the community where she was raised.
